After Corey and I were married, our first international trip was to Ubud, Bali, aka Paradise.
I took this photo the first night we were there, as we were walking around the neighborhood, stopping every five feet to breathe or gasp or listen or gape.
As I remember it, this image captured a part of the world that was exactly what it was, and only what it was. Everything was there for a reason – nothing was merely cosmetic. And perhaps that's what made it so beautiful, the purpose.
The memories of that place have sustained me for years. I take comfort in the fact that it exists, without me, right now.
