862 S Broadway | One step inside this Melbourne-based shop and your nose does a little dance. Which might be embarrassing, but everyone's nose is taking notice. So breathe deeply the scents of the skin, hair and body products like Coriander Seed Body Cleanser, Sage & Cedar Scalp Treatment, and Primrose Facial Hydrating Cream. Local design firm Brooks + Scarpa used lengths of cardboard tubes to create the wall, a nod to the bolts of fabric in the Fashion District. I've found gifts for both men and women – I mean, who wouldn't want to receive such beautiful, pamper-me products?
6. Tanner Goods
860 S Broadway | It's not surprising that I love this shop – must be the Pacific Northwest roots. Crafting beautiful leather accessories, Tanner Goods is the place to go if you'd like a custom-fitted belt, or a gorgeous wallet, or even something for your furry friend. They also carry a nicely curated collection of clothing from their own brand, Woodlands, and brands like LA Panoplie, of which Corey is definitely a fan.
7. Umami Burger
852 S Broadway | DTLA residents were very excited when a branch of this popular gourmet burger joint opened up on Broadway. It began as Umami Delicatessen, but I have to say, I prefer the return to simplicity. Corey favors the Truffle Burger, and I find myself sticking with a classic, the Cali Burger. But let's be honest – I would happily consume any of their delicious options. And wanna see a blast from the past? Back in 2009, when Umami Burger had only one location in LA, Corey and I produced food videos for Hungry City Guides, and Umami was one of our firsts! Check it out here.
Hope you've enjoyed our little jaunt! Keep an eye out for further exploration around the block...
